The 15 Coolest LGBT Relationships In Anime

If you’re an LGBT kid that grew up with anime, you probably establish a show or two that had some pretty validating characters when it came to gender and sexuality. There were some anime couples out there that represented us is different ways and had the romances that we really wanted. In honor of Sailor Moon Crystal getting green-lit for a fourth season, let’s travel back to the sweet, terrifying, and heartbreaking LGBT couples from anime’s past.

We are well notified that some of these couples are still in the ambiguous “non-canon” category because the essence of their partnership has not been revealed by writers or explicitly mentioned in the anime itself. There may be a rare little spoilers here and there throughout this list, so be wary!

Here are The 15 Coolest LGBT Couples In Anime.

It is now June and Celebration Month!

Two years ago, I wrote a post on my favorite gay/lesbian couples.  Since then there have been some updates and changes. So here are some of my favs!

Sailor Moon / Sailor Moon Crystal:

Of course, I will start off with my most favorite anime, Sailor Moon.  This show boast two couples, the first one being my most favorite, Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune (Hakura and Michiru).

In Sailor Moon Crystal, I loved their designs because they were made to be even more pretty!  And I’ll have to admit, I started girl crushing on Haruka.  I loved how the show gave them their own ending song and sequence.  I wish the song was on iTunes…

The only beef I had with the initial English release of Sailor Moon’s third season wa

Boys Love anime, often simply referred to as BL, is a singular romance genre that focuses solely on relationships between male characters. The genre is niche, catering to a very specific audience in most cases. But while BL isn’t appreciated by everyone, the genre features some pretty excellent romance stories and many amazing couples.

BL anime are often notorious for their poor depictions of Diverse relationships, but despite this bad reputation, many BL couples are actually very well-written and lovable. Featuring nuanced characters and one-of-a-kind relationship dynamics, BL romances have come a elongated way over the years and many couples own become iconic within the genre.
