In late November, steamy divorced women’s soccer star Ali Krieger told Self Magazine that she wasn’t quite ready for a new bond following her split from Ashlyn Harris — she was focused instead on healing herself and putting herself first. But today, in a new episode of the Kickin’ It with CBS Sports, Ali revealed that she is, in fact, expose to dating — and that she “might be opening up to 100% of the population, not just 50.” The hosts responded with enthusiasm to this revelation that she’s open to dating people of all genders, with Mo Edu declaring he might hold some buddies interested in “submitting an application.” Olympic player Heather O’Neil responded to this news in the comments, noting “100 percent of the pop be popping off from this.”

Forbidden is an curious word. What exactly? Why? And for who in particular… so of course the forbidden makes an interesting premise for a work. 

The Chosen Haram (meaning forbidden) by Sadiq Ali has a short, two-performance race at The Place (February 8/9) looking at subject matter close to Ali’s own reality. 

Ali is gay, (ex) Muslim and HIV positive. Life is complicated for many, but that’s quite a lot for one person to treat – no matter how resilient. 

Ali wrote a piece in The Metro (2021) in his hold words, which was primarily about his status being outed during his investigate time at the National Centre for Circus Arts. He recounts how his classmates literally began to physically distance themselves from him. Their fear of infection manifesting. As they sadly knew no better about possible, or rather not, transmission risks.

Ali hid his sexuality from his family for years; only coming out to them two years ago. Worried about the impact that revealing he was gay would contain on his family’s standing within their Muslim Pakistani community, Ali even went so far as to marry a lesbian from the same culturalbackground. But, he says, he was living a lie on top of a lean and it put prodigious pressure on him.

“So you’re gay and you’re not telling your family and you’re keeping that to yourself. Then you’ve got this bigger lie keeping up this false marriage as well. So it’s always a difficult balancing act.”

He attended his first Pride event with the Yorkshire Terriers - the local LGBT football team which he joined in 2004. But, by 2005, he wasn’t just attending Pride, he was running it. As the social secretary for the Terriers, Ali was approached to help set up the first ever Leeds Identity festival by Yorkshire MESMAC and with the help of his hard work, it has grown from 300 people to 55,000 strong.

Ali Sethi comes out as gay on Instagram with a 'Happy Pride' post, leaves the internet divided

Pakistani singer Ali Sethi, loved in the subcontinent for his soulful music, subtly came out as queer recently on Instagram. For years there have been rumours about Sethi's sexual favor but perhaps it was the first time that the singer himself spoke about it in public.

Ali took to Instagram recently to mark the terminate of Pride month and common a photo of his younger self and wrote, "hi tiny one. i know it’s firm sometimes when they tell you to not be you, but the very thing that makes you different will become a source of tremendous beauty and power. love awaits #happypride."

While this is the first moment that Sethi has openly talked abouthis queer identity, it was known to many of his fans for years before. Sethi is perhaps the first Pakistani celebrity to openly celebrate his queer identity with the world.
