Jeffrey Dahmer, an American serial killer and sex offender, was born on May 21, 1960. Between the years of 1978 and 1991, Dahmer murdered 17 males in truly horrific fashion. Rape, dismemberment, necrophilia, and cannibalism were all parts of his modus operandi.
By most accounts Dahmer had a normal childhood; however he became withdrawn and uncommunicative as he got older. He began exhibiting little to no interest in hobbies or social interaction as he entered adolescence, turning instead to examining animal carcasses and serious drinking for show. His drinking continued throughout high educational facility but did not stop him from graduating in 1978. It was just three weeks later that the 18-year-old committed his first murder. Due to his parents’ unfolding divorce that summer, Jeffrey was left in the family home alone. He seized the opportunity to act on the dark thoughts that had been growing in his mind. He picked up a hitchhiker named Steven Hicks and offered to take him assist to his father’s house to imbibe beer. Ryan Murphy slams Netflix for making ‘Dahmer’ less gay
“Dahmer” designer Ryan Murphy is hitting help at Netflix over its ruling to de-emphasize the show’s connection to gay history.
“There was a moment on Netflix where they removed the ‘LGBTQ’ tag from ‘Dahmer,’ and I didn’t love it,” Murphy, 56, told The New York Times, referring to the way the streamer sorts content into categories.
“And I asked why they did that and they said because people were upset because it was an upsetting story,” Murphy said. “I was, like, ‘Well, yeah.’ But it was a story of a gay man and more importantly, his gay victims.”
The “LGBTQ” tag is typically used on Netflix to help viewers identify stories about queer characters, for example “Heartstopper,” or the teen lesbian vampire show “First Kill.”
Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, played in “Dahmer” by Murphy regular Evan Peters, was gay. He killed 17 people, many of them queer men of hue he encountered in Milwaukee queer bars in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

"In this article I read media and subcultural representations of Jeffrey Dahmer, the white male U.S. serial killer who gained notoriety in the overdue 1980s for having sex with and then murdering and dismembering men of color in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My aim is to reveal the extent to which the degree of Dahmer's homosexualization in a particular representation determines Dahmer' s thinking and actions in the sphere of race, and to recommend how spiraling actions to separate race from sexuality in the Dahmer case only further intricate the two analytic axes."
