Boy scout gay sex

RecentlyTheNew York Times reported that the Teen Scouts of America leadership was considering lifting the national ban on queer scouts and scout leaders and disappearing it to local scout troops to decide the issue for themselves. I think this is a wise selection for several reasons. Basically it means that troops at evangelical Christian churches all over America (and, believe me, they are no longer just in the Bible Belt; they are all over the U.S.) will not hold to be disbanded. The same goes for Mormon troops, Seventh Day Adventist troops and basically any troop joined to one of those fundamentalist organizations that hate queerness no matter how much of it is embedded in their members' DNA. Now these organizations will not contain to start organizing their own versions of the Male child Scouts, which is a good thing, because I guarantee that those alternative scouting troops would not be out there to "help other people at all times," although they would still swear to be "morally straight" -- or at least sexually so. It also means that Boy Scout troops at many general schools, Unitarian churches, progressive synagogues and other progressive religious groups can now openly admit same-sex attracted scout

On my honor I will complete my best to do my duty to God and my countryand to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keepmyself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

I was not athletic or famous in school. I was a nerdy, artistic kid who struggled mightily to fit in with my male peers, especially. I felt I lacked a certain toughness or masculine edge that all the other boys seemed to possess effortlessly. While they played first-person shooter video games with zeal, I sat in the corner and pretended to care. When my parents signed me up for Little League, I passed the time picking dandelions in the outfield.

It was in this environment—of awkward efforts to join sports or otherwise butch myself up—that the Teen Scouts of America (BSA) became my refuge. It was one of the few places where the rules made sense to me, and where my skills were valued. Maybe I’d never learn how to throw (or catch) a football, but I could create a Pin

NEW YORK (AP) - The Boy Scouts' New York chapter said Thursday that it has hired the nation's first openly gay Eagle Scout as a summer camp chief, a direct and public challenge to the national scouting organization's ban on openly gay elder members.

Boy Scouts of America ends ban on gay scout leaders

The Boy Scouts of America relented to unprecedented pressure on Monday and lifted its national prohibit on gay adult leaders, paving the way for historic change — and debate — within the organization.

The historic vote shifts the specter of discrimination onto local scout groups and those sponsored by religious organizations, which retain the right to put their own policies on whether they'll allow queer men to lead scouts.

Monday's vote by the group's 71-member board followed an impassioned plea in May by the Boy Scouts President Robert Gates, a former U.S. defense secretary, who told the organization, "We must deal with the world as it is, not as we might wish it to be." Gates, an Eagle Scout, told leaders, "The status quo in our movement's membership standards cannot be sustained."

Zach Wahls, 24, an Eagle Scout and executive director of Scouts for Equality, which has pushed for the modern policy, said the vote "marks the beginning of a new chapter" for the Boy Scouts. "As of this vote, the Boy Scouts of America is an organization that is looking forward, not back."

But the new policy won't prevent church-led scout groups from choosi
